Far Cry thread #11: Another Jacob and Allya
//Next up it looks like another Jacob and Allya
From Jacob.
[Ever realize that humans cut down birdhouses to make
birdhouses?]
Hearing the females phone buzz Tristan cast her a
rather annoyed expression from the driver's seat. If you could even call it
that seeing as ninety percent of Tristan's expressions looked the damn same.
Currently they were circling back around, heading back, seemed the trail had
gone cold and Derek had taken off back down towards John so for now. It was on
Simon to deal with it. If they couldn't fucking do it well? Then territory be
damned by that point who cared.
-----
Still,.they hadn't filled Jacob in yet and he was
growing. Bored of waiting back in the veteran center. And tired, and his head
was hurting, and if that damn wolf outside didn't stop howling he was going to
go shoot it at this point. By this point he'd been waiting most of the day on
them to get back. They'd had a later start then usual and now it was well after
dark. So what the hell had happened? Thus his decision to text Allya, make sure
first she was even responding at all. Then he'd decide if he even had the
energy to start bitching this late. That may depend on if they'd found the son
of a bitch to.
Hearing her phone go off, Allya cast Tristan a smirk
before opening her phone and reading the message. Fucking Jacob. He could be so
funny sometimes by being such a smartass. She texted back:
[One of the pleasure of being human, I guess. Some
don't stop to think and are incredibly stupid. lol] She sent before she smirked
and texted again: [You know, if you missed me, you could have just said so. We
on the way back now.]
Snorting softly to herself, she bit her lip to keep
from giggling. Wondering what Jacob would think of that! He was in a mood, that
much she could tell just by his text, but hopefully not bad of one. It was late
and seven she felt tired but though they had gotten close, the one they were
after had gotten away. It frustrated her too but there was always tomorrow.
But she had behaved herself while on this outing.
Hadn't tried to 'lord it over' anyone and actually listened. Though she wished
she could have given her input at one point, she had been rebuffed earlier in
the day and so kept quiet afterwards. At one point, she would have done things
a little bit differently, but she followed the rules and Tristan's lead even
though she 100% disagreed with him. But she wouldn't say so...not then at
least. maybe later....still, it had been kinda fun.
[About mother fucking time! But for the record no. Do
you wanna know how peaceful it's been without you fucks around all day? 🤗😛]
He sent back half smirking at her attempt to be witty.
Still he was now wondering what had taken so damn long. Tristan was usually
good about getting shit done in a timely manner so he didn't exactly want to
immediately jump to blame Allya but... Well he kind of did. Still he wouldn't
if they'd actually managed to pull it off. What would be the point?
---
Another twenty minutes past and finally they were
pulling into the main road back to the Veteran center. Tristan hadn't said a
thing other than to sort of cast her a glance from the corner of his eyes as
she'd giggled. A part of him found her cheeriness a hair obnoxious but then,
most of his guys were a bit odd acting. More like animals then humans. Like
Beaver who was currently in the back of the truck chewing at the edge of his
camouflage jacket for, whatever damn reason. None of them really sat around
having long conversations.
Though that didn't mean they didn't find humor in
their own way and rather suddenly Tristan's foot hit the break hard. So hard
Beaver yelped and flew into the back window of the truck slamming his head into
it before slumping down and mumbling something hardly sounding like real words.
A smirk crossed Tristan's face and the two others in the back who'd nearly
slipped themselves were busting up laughing like a couple of Hyenas.
[Awww...you know you missed me. lol It's ok. I won't
tell.]
She smirked at Jacob's bantering and chuckled as she
closed her phone down and sat back in her seat. She just hoped he wouldn't be
to upset that their Mark got away and not blame it on her. She had followed
Tristan's lead and not talked back. Had done everything asked of her, so he had
no reason to bitch at her. But if he did, well...she might just bitch back.
-----
Not expecting the sudden stop, Allya braced herself so
she didn't go flying out of her seat, and turned to look at Tristan, before
glancing back at Beaver and laughed, shaking her head. "Good one."
She smirked as she winked at the older man and bit her lip to keep from
giggling. They weren't so bad. These men she had found herself thrown into the
mix with. A bit set in their ways, maybe and a little old fashioned or just
plain crazy, but she found that she liked them.
"Mmm keeps them on their toes... Or off of
them" He countered rather dryly as his foot hit the gas again and the
truck proceeded to speed up along the paved road and finally whizzed past the
large sign that read 'St. Francis Veteran center'. Of course that meant only a
few moments later and the dirt road came into view along with the massive 'Cull
the herd' sign that had been put up. Two bodies with bags over their heads
skewered onto large spikes for side pieces. They'd really outdone themselves
with that.
Taking a hard turn they were soon barreling up the
road and past the small pond just outside the wall only slowing when the
nearest the massive metal gate and two of the guards moved to open it up so
they could pull inside. Moving to step out Tristan was shocked Jacob hadn't
actually come out to meet them, but then again he also didn't know about the
text so...
He was also a bit shocked they hadn't gotten sixty
radio calls to check in. It had been a rather long bullshit day. "Yo boss
what we gonna tell big man? I mean what if ..... Ok shutting up now"
Terrance had started asking only to immediately catching the unamused look in
Tristan's eyes and correct the need to even ask. Tristan always handled shit so
why worry right?
Settling back in her seat, she went silent for the
rest of the drive back, a small smirk on her face. See? They weren't so bad. A
little unorthodox in their hunting methods, according to her at times, but they
were alright. She had literally grown up with wolves! Her brothers and her own
mother shifted for Christ’s sake, so she knew a few things about hunting. But
she had done as told and kept her mouth shut, so if any of the blame got put on
her, she'd open it quick, fast and in a hurry and have NO issues pointing out
where the others went wrong. But that was far from her mind right now as the
truck took back off again and she saw the sign heralding their return. She
wasn't still too keen on the bodies on posts as a warning, but she had to
admit, they were effective and got the job done. Still, she wasn't looking
forward to seeing how Jacob reacted when he was told their Mark got away.
Seeing how Tristan responded when asked, she noted he
wasn't looking forward to it either once the truck was parked and they all
began to clamber out. Just what was waiting for them? She wasn't going to hold
her breath that this would be a warm homecoming. Not one bit.
Inside Jacob had gotten her text rolled his eyes.
Yeah, sure she thought that. Meanwhile he'd nearly dozed off twice and the only
reason for complaint was his pounding headache and unending wonder at what the
fuck had taken so long. At least he'd gotten slight relief that Allya had
responded. So they hadn't ended up blown the fuck up. "They're here"
He heard Staci's voice drift from over near the door where he'd stopped to peek
through the shades. For a moment Jacobs eyes moved up towards the other and he
scoffed a little "Yeah ... Hey come rub my neck will you. Shits all fuckin
kinked" He replied not exactly saying much on the fact he was unendingly
curious to what explanation the group had for taking ALL FUCKING DAY!
Glancing back to him Staci slowly nodded and let the
blind close before turning to walk over and around the large check in desk,
soon coming up behind where Jacob sat in the office chair he moved to gently
place both hands on either side of the others neck, fingers softly pushing into
the muscle at first before his own eyes lifted to the door as it opened and
Tristan appeared leading the way in. As usual that half dead of emotion look on
his face.
Shit, where was Derek? Had they? Immediately Staci
felt his own stomach sort of jolt as the group neared and Tristan moved to lean
on the desk taking a drag of the cigarette in his hand. "Bitch is down in
John's area... Simon wants to handle it" He stated all to simply as caught
Jacobs rather questioning stare.
Allya followed Tristan and the rest inside, coming to
a stop just before where Jacob sat, with Staci rubbing his neck. Her arms
crossed lightly across her chest as she rested her weight mostly on her left
side as she had always had issues with her right knee since...well...since she
was young. She didn't say a word, kept her expression neutral and just let
Tristan talk, like she had been told to.
But catching Jacob's questioning stare, she could all
but predict the outcome. It was easy as reading trail signs, or reading prey. A
person said SO MUCH more with their body and facial expressions and eyes than
they even realized. So Jacob was either going to explode or quietly rage....she
was sure. Just as long as his temper wasn't turned on her. Hence why she stood
just behind Tristan as if to say 'this was his lead, not mine. I behaved.'
But inside, she was silently seething! There had been
one point where she was sure Derek..was that his name? Had gone down into a
small thicket but the rest were telling her that he had gone further down the
trail they had been following because the signs said so. Had NONE of them heard
of a false trail before?! But she silenced her protests when Tristan had tossed
her a look and she had followed his direction, even though everything within
her was screaming to go the other way. And yep...the bitch had bolted and had
gotten away. UGH! She was so mad! She might be young and she knew she didn't
know everything, but her family literally WERE hunters! Animals bred for
hunting, tracking, killing and her mother had taught her along with Rheagal and
Armand...and guess who turned out to be the better hunter out of three of them?
Still, she stood there, not speaking which was a new
thing for her since Jacob used to tease her that he couldn't get her to shut
up, and waited to see what would happen.
"So now we're just letting the Jackass brigade
tell us what to do?" Jacob stated looking on coldly for a moment. Taking
in a slow breath his eyes moved down for a moment and he let out a groan as
Staci hit a rather sore spot. "Hey, we have borders for a reason. If you
don't like it... Tell Joseph to give the order" Tristan rather boldly
replied with a shrug before he simply moved to continue through the main part
of the large area and towards the stairs. His men slowly and nervously
beginning to disperse. Almost immediately at Tristan using that as an excuse
Jacob growled under his breath and shot a glare after the older male, reaching
to catch Staci's wrist so he'd stop he took a breath and slowly moved to stand
his eyes moving to Allya. "Thought you were some sort of good hunter"
He remarked smartly before rolling his eyes. "So much for that" He
added scoffing. She'd sure begged to be sent and then they'd still came up with
this crap? For this shit to happen they'd have had to have been after him for
HOURS only to let him fucking slip through their damn fingers! And of course
Tristan was just shrugging it off like he did EVERYTHING! Old prick!
Allya sighed deeply when Jacob turned those eyes of
his upon her and she simply gave him the barest hint of a smile. Didn't get
angry, cause she knew his frustration was coming. Didn't get frustrated with
him, simply looked at him, smiled ever so faintly and shrugged.
"Well...you told me to behave and follow his lead. I did so...though, I
might point out that I ALSO told Tristan as well as the entire group that I
thought Derek had gone another way, but nope..he knew better so..." She
shrugged a bit. "I didn't claim to be a great hunter, I said I can outhunt
my brothers. But again, I am new to their...group, so what do I know?"
She in turn rolled her eyes, shook her head, before
looking about. "I'm hungry...want anything?" She said as she moved to
head back towards the rooms where she knew food was kept for them. She wasn't
going to stand there and argue with him. Not when she had done as told and
actually behaved.
"No, thanks" He muttered as he half glared
after her. Heaving a sigh he turned to head for the stairs himself. He was
exhausted and felt like shit and pissed would have been an understatement.
Though the thought did cross his mind to call John even at this hour. Just to
make double sure the other had things under control over there and his guys
DIDN'T fuck up. However he almost had less trust in that seeing as they were
far wilder and more untrained. Relying on brute force and cock flexing over
actual intelligence. For all John's smarts he didn't get how he thought Simon
or Gavin were worthy enough to handle shit. Well one of them seemed to be, the
other was more of a ticking time bomb he'd heard argue with John more often than
not.
Moving up the stairs slowly he soon took to the hall
and headed for the next set of stairs that lead to the top floor where the
bedrooms were. Only stopping once to finally hit the lights on the level they
held the prisoners and cast one last look down to where Staci had taken up a
spot on the sofa. For a moment he briefly tossed about the idea of calling the
other up but, he was too irritated. Knowing his mood and Staci he'd end up
biting his head off instead of relaxing and thus he finally turned and
eventually drifted up the stairs.
She wasn't exactly pleased that things hadn't gone
their way either. Sure, she was young and these men, a few of them at least,
had been doing this a lot longer than her, but she knew she had been
right...and they hadn't listened. That had irritated her more than she let on,
but nothing she could do now. Sighing again, she pulled out a few packets of
already made food and sat down to eat. It had been a long day and she was
hungry. Her thoughts were a jumble of silent images and replays of the day’s
events and she couldn't really focus to latch onto just one. One of those times
where you were thinking but not really thinking at the same time.
Once she was done, she cleaned up and walked to the
nearest bathroom to at least wash off the dirt and the muck from her skin.
Having grabbed a new shirt and pants from a bag she had brought, she locked the
door and sought the warmth of the shower for a few moments. Anything to silence
her mind and the hot water felt so good.
Though once she was done, she dried off, redressed and
came out, taking up a seat on a long chair nearby, as she really didn't have a
room yet allotted to her, and closed her eyes. Her daggers tucked up in her
belt and one under her head beneath the pillow she had snatched up from the
sofa and used. Slowly, she drifted a bit...sleep slow in coming. Today had been
long...and yet her mind kept drifting back to Jacob....strange.
//BAHAHAHA!!!!! The fact I've either used Derrek who
you now actually know in place of "Rook" 🤣
