Far Cry thread #9: More Jacob and Allya, with Rheagal

"Aren't you due a long holiday or retirement by now?" Jacob mused teasingly as his eyes fell on the old man currently dragging in the large crates the Staci hadn't finished with. Even with as cold as it was Jacob was shocked to find Henry outside where he'd clearly already been for some time seeing the animals were already fed. The Judges were chewing loud enough you could hear them before the cages were even in view and Cheeseburger was quiet which meant the bear was likely fed, content and sleeping.

Of course Henry merely stared at Jacob like he'd just spoken another language. "I'm kidding grandpa shit! We'll all get our fuckin vacation here soon" He teased the man with a bit of a smirk which finally gained a chuckle in response as the man moved to close the gate back up.

He'd shown Allya the inside and now? The outside was next. Cages, and cages, one side against the large wall that circled the Veteran center and the fencing blocking either end. Mostly the cages had the Wolf Judges and a few German shepherds, a husky and so on. Then of course the bear and a few empty cages and THEN.

More captives. These ones in particular the ones looked mostly out of their minds even now. Either staring blankly or sitting there whispering to themselves raving mad. Not like the one Allya had heard before but ACTUALLY insane. Their eyes even clouded due to the amount of bliss they'd been subject to. By this point most of them Jacob was going to likely end up loading up and sending down to Faith to use as angels.

Stopping in the small part before it went from animals to ..... Human animals you could say his arms moved to cross his chest and he slowly turned to eye Allya again. "Now you've seen why we attempted to keep your nose OUT of shit.... Guess you better hope you plan to stick with the program now huh? None of us like a weak-minded traitor" He sneered towards her. His tone again taking on that dull cold sound as it had before, and he again slowly approached her stopping only about a foot away from where she stood. "If I find your brother.... And he continues to.... Resist us.... He'll be lucky to end up in a cage. End of story" He warned her. His voice dropping to damn near a whisper.

Walking back outside, Allya followed Jacob to where he kept the cages and was a bit entranced for only a second when she saw the animals he kept back there. The wolves, she guessed were the reasons why she could hear him, for when her power cast out as if to speak to them, she heard nothing but silence. Which was odd, considering all animals had the basics of thoughts, even if they didn't desire to talk back.

To prove a point, she tilted her head ever so slightly and tried again, to see if the wolves....or Jacob, would hear her. 'Such beautiful animals. I have always adored wolves, for many reasons; and not cause my brother can turn into one. He's an idiot!' She was being a smartass on purpose, to see if Jacob gave her any reaction. If he even heard her at all.

The bear, she delighted in...for she had never seen one so big up close before. And again, she tested her gift out, just to see if it would talk to her, or not. But it was the people, in cages that pulled her up short for a moment.

She simply stared at them, as if her brain was trying to register what she was seeing. These were no longer humans, that much was clear. For they no longer acted like it. She should have been appalled, but she wasn't. Strangely, a part of her was detached from the whole thing....till Jacob opened his mouth. Then she pulled her eyes away from the cages and full on glared at Jacob.

"I am NOT weak minded, nor a traitor and you'd best watch your tongue when saying so. When I give someone my word, I keep it." though she paused and actually growled at him softly. "And if you so much as think of putting my brother into a cage, I'll skin you myself..." It wasn't shouted, nor whispered, but an odd combination of the two, and fiercely so he knew she meant it.

Oh he had, and for the briefest of moments a smirk crossed his face. As much as it had spooked him to begin with he'd at least managed to cope with what she could apparently do by now. Four days later and he merely felt the constant need to concentrate on only what he did not care if she overheard or not. Such as the fact even though he now was merely grinning down at her he was inwardly rolling at how she thought she was SO tough. 'Skin me alive!? As if!?' he slowly moved just a hair closer his head slightly tilting as he looked down at her. 'Be pretty funny... Imagine... Him bent to my will just like all the others have. What's the worst that could happen? He becomes more mindless than we both know he is? Not much of a difference if you ask me' He thought VERY purposely just because of her idol threats she used. "Maybe you aren't weak minded little lady. But your brother? Certainly is" He whispered lowly to her. Almost sounding mocking.

Hearing his words, Allya didn't so much a move. There was no way she was going to give that man any ground as he sought to invade her space. He was trying to intimidate her, and she wasn't going to let him! He might bully others, hell he had even hit her but that meant nothing in the grand scheme of things if she didn't allow him to get to her and show him that he didn't. "You don't think I could?" She responded both outwardly and inwardly, before switching fully to using her gift. Uncaring of what people who passed them by might think. Standing almost nose to nose with him. Both of them glaring at each other but not speaking. Yea, so it was a little weird...but what WASN'T weird since they had found themselves in this place.

'My brother is not weak minded. Sure, he may be stupid, even a complete moron at times, but never weak so I don't have to imagine anything!' She hissed back internally. Using that same sounding voice she had before. 'You don't frighten me, Jacob Seed and none of us will ever bow to 'your will' as you put it so don't even think it, cause now you know if you do...I will know.' She smirked, her lips twisting a bit in a grim but smug smile.

'Scary huh? To have me inside your head? You are so lucky that I have morals and respect, otherwise, you would be just as lost as those things in that cage over there.' She allowed her eyes to flit to the cage with the humans and then back to him, her eyebrows lifting as if to say, 'test me'.

As she started in again Jacob merely stared down into her eyes unwavering. His smirk remained just as it was until she suddenly started in like she might be able to do more than.... This .. slowly his expression changed to an almost sullen glare and he slowly inhaled through his nostrils as if fighting to contain himself. For a moment he'd nearly lost it, rather panicked thoughts rushing to the surface. 'She could do that? No! How? Not if he figured out how to severe this connection! But what.... ' he cut himself off rather quickly and that's when he finally let his gaze move from hers. She was stronger than him that much was clear. At least in this he was only going to end up accidentally giving her more to lord over his head. So he had to let her win this, and block her out as best he could. Damn it all!!!

"Guess we'll see.... How long those morals of yours last around here" He finally scoffed a bit at her as he moved to step just past where she stood somewhat letting his shoulder check her as he moved and pulled his key card from his belt to head for one of the cages with two large judges in it. Reaching it out he scanned it and let the gate click open so they could come trotting out. Which they did, a rather distant look in their eyes as they turned and headed for the gate on the opposite side of the courtyard. "HENRY! OPEN THAT GATE!" He called to the older man who soon did so that the two massive wolves could head out and off down towards the lake.

She heard him! Heard his panicked flight of words as he strove to figure out a way to keep her out. He was scared. Frightened. Of her? She wasn't sure how she felt about that yet, but best to keep him on his toes at least a little. 'I have only ever done so to animals...and solely to protect myself. Sending images to distract more like so I can get away. I don't LIKE doing so, nor rooting around through anyone's mind.' She paused and sighed, not at all sure why she was trying to bring him some peace of mind when he clearly didn't deserve any. She knew not to test him, why then did he seek to test HER at every turn? Prod her and attempt to rile her? Did he like it? That was absurd. You didn't fear someone you liked...did you?

"Don't give me a reason to, and I won't listen. Simple." She shot back at him as she watched him walk over to the cage with the wolves and release them. They really were beautiful animals. Sad that they were seemingly brain dead. She wondered what they would have been like to talk to. "And it's not like I do it on purpose, as I have told you time and time again, Jacob. I can't always help it...even more so when you 'shout' at me."

She went to walk over to him pausing again as a thought hit her. maybe there was a way to earn a little 'niceness' from him after all. "What if I teach you how to block me?" She suddenly blurted out, looking up at him. "You know...unless you wanted me in your head. I know how, it's just complicated and would take some time for us both to learn." She giggled softly. "Like I said, I have never done this with a human before."

Hearing her approach Jacobs gaze briefly cast down to her almost bored looking now. Like given those brief seconds between their last interaction he'd snapped right back to how he usually was. Rather cold and distant with a nice coat of sarcasm and tactful anger. Mostly... Watching for a moment as the two wolves vanished through the gate he let out a slow breath trying to keep his mind a bit blank. Though as she spoke he rose a browns bit in shock. "Why the fuck would you do that?" He shot almost immediately looking over at her with a confused expression on his face. Not exactly a feeling he liked but one she seemed to constantly have him feeling. Trust her? Don't trust her? Like her? Hate her? Strong? Weak? Back and forth to the point his very brain hurt at times attempting to figure her out. Understand her motives and now why she had gone from very clearly threatening him to this! Was it some sort of game to trick him? Had to be...

"You don't trust me, do you? And I don't blame you." She began in an almost gentle tone, but the hint of frustration was still there. "Stranger rolling up into town unexpectedly. Has a brother who shifts into a wolf, and a psycho albino. Hell, I'd be nervous too." She giggled softly. On a roll now. "But oh no...the woman with them has to be the strangest of all. Able to talk to animals and have them talk back..but guess what! You hear me, and I hear you and neither of us was expecting that. So! Why the fuck would I do that? Simple really....gotta give trust first where none is to get it back in return." She tilted her head a bit, looking him right in the eyes.

"You don't like me in your head, for..whatever reason and I get it. If you have had anything bad happen to you in your past, I wouldn't want to upset that by going around and peeking through things I shouldn't. I know I wouldn't like it. Again, an animal’s mind is so simple, depending on the animal. Space here is where they think, divided where they 'talk'...it's separate. A human's isn't and this is all as weird to me as it is to you." She shook her head and sighed. "Like I said, long and confusing and I swear, no ulterior motive...so do you want the help or not?" She bit back a little at him in return. Damn him and his ever present need to rile her at every turn. 'Either let me help and teach you so you don't always have to hear me or shut the hell up and stop bitiching about it all the time.' She threw in silently for good measure.

Again he had to actually fight not to seem nervous on the surface and that was NOT easy. In fact he was back inwardly freaking out and he HATED IT! Hated her even more for making him feel like this. Such a mess and... Weak. He felt weak and he didn't like it even slightly. Staring back at her for a brief moment he seemed at least on the surface to just be completely unphased by her despite knowing she knew better. Then finally he let out a sigh in frustration. Especially managing to just catch her taunting him despite it being a bit distant and fuzzy now. Just beyond the wall his wolves were soon circling back just to stay within a decent range of Allya and Jacob cast his gaze away again biting his inner lip as he mauled it over. 'Suppose if you do play me.... Then I'll deserve it. So fine' he finally replied a bit coldly. What could it hurt more than this? If she did manage to do something like she'd threatened then it was what it was.

Nope, he wasn't the most trusting of people that was for sure, and she didn't really blame him. But if he wanted help, he should take it and stop bitching all the time. It would drive her nuts if she had to be near him and hear him freaking out inwardly all the time about her. She was sure she didn't like the idea of being feared 24/7. But she did notice that his wolves seemed to stay close while she was around and that made her smirk a little. But hearing his thoughts again, she nodded. 'Good. Then you give me a time when you are free, and we shall begin.' She smirked a little, feeling very smug about the whole thing. 'Get used to me being around more then. You and me...gonna be spending LOADS of time together.'

A forced chuckle soon drifted from his chest, and he gave a bit of a nod. "Leave your number on the desk. I'll have my secretary call you" He sort of remarked smartly back as he cast her a bit of an annoyed expression then turning he slowly started to walk for the back door again. He honestly probably did need to make sure Staci wasn't still bleeding on his sofa and then he had a long fucking day of hunting planned. Hunting being used liberally seeing as he had some leads to follow up on Rheagal and the white tails.

Almost to the door however static suddenly came drifting over the radio. At first he couldn't quite understand it but pulling it from his belt and listening carefully he suddenly frowned. "Hel... Somebody... Explosion.. can't see if ... I heard..." His guy from down at the zoo suddenly began to ramble away like a crazed lunatic. What the fuck was going on!!!? Then it went silent. Without a second thought Jacob was moving fast back into the main part of the veteran center. "Staci!!' he shouted not seeing the male on the sofa anymore. Damn it!!! They needed to move seeing as it could be Whitetails AGAIN!!! Stopping a moment he lifted the radio. "I need back up sent to the zoo NOW! Don't give a shit what you're doing GO!" He barked loud into the radio soon at least somewhat settled when three different team’s voices responded they were in route that way.

'Har! Har! You're funny...but don't worry, I won't tell.' She smirked up at him and winked as her words echoed in his mind again. She watched him go and was content enough to just hang about and see if she could make herself useful somehow....till she heard the static on the radio and Jacob yelling! What was going on?!

The silence that followed was more worrying than the shouts and it peeked Allya's attention. "What's happening? Can I help?" She asked as she approached Jacob again, eyes shooting out towards the gate. It was times like this she wished she could shift too but she was good with a bow and dagger, there was no reason to think she wouldn't be good with a gun.
